Proactive Transparency and Inclusion
Plain Language
We write in plain English and avoid jargon wherever we can. When technical terms are necessary — particularly around data linkage, governance or research infrastructure — we explain them clearly. Our goal is that anyone reading our materials can follow what we’re saying, regardless of their background.
Accessible Design
Our website aims to meet WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards. We work to ensure content is readable, navigable and usable for everyone, including people who use assistive technologies. If something isn’t working for you, please tell us — your feedback directly shapes our improvements.
Inclusive Participation
Our workshops, games and learning resources are designed so that everyone can take part — regardless of background, disability, prior knowledge of data, or professional experience. We actively consider barriers to participation when designing activities and aim to create spaces that feel safe, welcoming and relevant to all.
Transparency About Decisions and Data Use
We are open about how we make decisions — about our work, our partnerships and our priorities. Because our mission centres on helping people understand data, we hold ourselves to a high standard of transparency about how we handle any data ourselves. We explain what we collect, why, and how it is used.
Alternative Formats
Where possible, we provide materials in alternative formats — including plain text versions, accessible PDFs and simplified summaries. If you need content in a different format, just ask and we will do our best to help.
Continuous Improvement
Accessibility and inclusion are ongoing commitments, not a box to tick. We review our website, resources and practices regularly, and we update them as guidance, technology and our own understanding improve. We do not consider this work to be finished.
Get in Touch
